I would love for Celus to add more options and alerts for handling COUNTER version transitions. Some ideas:
An alert for when a platform has more than one COUNTER version set to auto-harvest.
An option to automatically turn of auto harvest on the old version upon the first successful harvest from the new version per platform.
A way to create reports that use multiple COUNTER versions, but only use one version per platform, preferring the newest enabled version.
A way to batch delete multiple platforms and associated data.
My scenario:
I am creating my first Annual Report since the official release of COUTER 5.1. It summarizes the key metrics for the entire fiscal year (July 2024 through June 2025) for all platforms. The period is split between two COUNTER versions, and it greatly complicates the mater. The platforms are inconsistent in how and when they handled the transition. Some had a hard cut over, some have both 5 and 5.1 for the full date range, and most start 5.1 in January 2025, but did not stop version 5. As a result, there is no way for me to create a clean report that works correctly for all the platforms.
I recognize that some of this miss is of my own making - I asked my stats assistant to start enabling 5.1 but did not tell her to turn off auto harvest of 5.0.
The attached spreadsheet illustrates the situation, comparing the months that have data per COUNTER version for the platforms UCF enabled.
